Unnati Hooda will face one of the more experienced players in the women's singles draw when she takes on 13th seed Michelle Li of Canada on Day 3. Their round-of-32 match is scheduled for not before 2:10 pm on Court 3. Unnati earned her place in the second round after beating Myanmar's Thet Htar Thuzar 22-20, 21-16 in a 40-minute opening-round contest. The young Indian, who is coached by her father, handled a close first game before taking control in the second. Her next challenge is Li, who is seeded 13th at the championships. Unnati will be looking to continue her run in front of the home crowd and secure a place in the last 16. The match also adds another India-Canada contest to a day that features several such encounters.
BWF World Championships Live: Sen overcame early trouble to advance
Lakshya Sen had to fight back from a slow start in his opening match at the BWF World Championships. Facing Collins Valentine Filimon of Bulgaria, Sen lost the first game 16-21 after struggling to find his rhythm. The Indian was locked in a close contest early on before a run of six straight points from his opponent put him 12-17 behind. Sen pulled some points back, but Filimon kept the shuttle in play and forced errors to take the opening game. The response from Sen was emphatic. The Indian moved from 7-7 to an 11-8 lead in the second game and then produced a run of 10 straight points. Filimon could not recover as Sen took the second game 21-8. Sen carried that momentum into the decider and won 21-4 to complete a 16-21, 21-8, 21-4 victory in 45 minutes.

Lakshya Sen will look to build on his opening-round victory when he takes on USA's Garret Tan in the men's singles round of 32. The match is scheduled for around 4.30 pm on Court 1. Sen entered the second round after overcoming Collins Valentine Filimon of Bulgaria in three games on Tuesday. The Indian lost the opening game 16-21 but recovered strongly to win the next two 21-8, 21-4.
The match lasted 45 minutes. Sen's next opponent, Tan, reached this stage after beating Switzerland's Tobias Kuenzi 21-4, 21-15. Sen had a difficult start against Filimon but changed the course of the match by stepping up his attacking game. He then reeled off 10 straight points in the second game and controlled the contest.

PV Sindhu will be one of India's biggest attractions on Day 3 of the BWF World Championships in New Delhi. The ninth-seeded Indian will face Canada's Wen Yu Zhang in the women's singles round of 32. Sindhu's match is scheduled for around 6.10 pm on Court 1.
She is part of a strong Indian singles contingent taking the court on Wednesday, with Lakshya Sen and Ayush Shetty also involved in the men's singles and Unnati Hooda competing in the women's singles. Sindhu's opponent, Wen Yu Zhang, is another Canadian shuttler in action against India on the day, with Unnati facing 13th seed Michelle Li earlier on Court 3. With the tournament being played at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium, Indian players will have home support behind them as they try to move into the last 16.
